This coffee from Halo Beriti really satisfies our cravings for Yirgacheffe coffee – while we aren’t necessarily the biggest admirers of fragrance and aroma at Nonesuch HQ, we will admit that this coffee really stands out before you even take the first sip. Once you do take a sip, though, you’re greeted with everything you’d want from the typical Ethiopian cup: the coffee is fruit-forward, with a medley of difficult-to-place tropical fruits present in each sip along with a sugar syrup sweetness. The finish provides hints of florals and earthiness, and as the cup cools those heavier earthy notes mingle with the sugared and fruited notes to suggest cacao nibs. This coffee was dried in cherry, but we find that this is a very ”clean“ natural with only a little fermentation flavor, and a nice acidity helps balance out the cup. While I wouldn’t mistake this for a washed coffee (more due to the weighty body than the flavor), I’d need to think about it in a blind tasting.
Fruit Salad costs $24, but we have sold every bag of our current roast. We’ll announce the next roast of this coffee via our email list, so sign up if you‘d like to receive updates on when we’ll be roasting this coffee again!
